Auto Ion Țiriac Once Forgot He Owned a $3 Million Ferrari F40 by Emily Harper April 27, 2026 written by Emily Harper April 27, 2026 0 comments 879 Owning one Ferrari is a dream for most people. Owning two — and then forgetting about them — is something only a billionaire could do. That’s exactly what happened to Ion Țiriac, who reportedly forgot he owned not one, but two Ferrari F40 supercars, each worth around $3 million. Țiriac Collection A Collection So Big, It’s Hard to Keep Track Țiriac is known for having one of the largest private car collections in Europe, with more than 400 vehicles. His Țiriac Collection, located near Bucharest, showcases an incredible range of rare and historic cars — from vintage classics to modern performance machines. With a collection that vast, it might not be surprising that even a car as iconic as the Ferrari F40 could slip through the cracks. Țiriac Collection How He Forgot About Two Ferraris In an interview shared on the collection’s official YouTube channel, Țiriac explained how it happened. After buying a Ferrari F40, he received a very strong offer for it shortly afterward. Realizing how valuable and sought-after the model was, he decided to buy a second one. But here’s where it gets unusual. Some of his Ferraris — including the F40s — were stored in a garage in Munich. Once parked there, they were essentially forgotten. It wasn’t until 10 years later that someone managing the garage reminded him that the cars were still there. Inside the Țiriac Collection The billionaire’s collection is nothing short of extraordinary. Among the 400+ vehicles are: Rare Aston Martins, including a 1976 Lagonda Classic Alfa Romeos like the Montreal Coupe and 1900C Super Sprint Numerous Bentleys from the 1950s and 1960s Multiple Cadillac Eldorado models A wide range of Corvettes, including a 1988 Challenge Race Car And of course, several Ferraris — including the famous F40s he once forgot about. Even a Formula 1 Car As if that wasn’t enough, Țiriac also owns a piece of Formula 1 history. He acquired the 2010 championship-winning Red Bull RB6, a car that dominated the season and secured the title for the team. A Story Only a Billionaire Could Tell For most people, forgetting where they parked their car is a minor inconvenience. For Ion Țiriac, it meant rediscovering multi-million-dollar supercars a decade later. It’s a story that perfectly captures the scale of his wealth — and just how extraordinary his collection really is.
