Bill Gates has acknowledged having extramarital affairs with two women from Russia, while firmly denying that they were victims connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. His comments come amid renewed public scrutiny over his past association with Epstein and reports about his personal life during his marriage to Melinda French Gates.

Gates stated that the relationships were consensual and had no connection to Epstein’s network of trafficking or exploitation. He emphasized that the women were not introduced to him by Epstein and were not involved in any criminal activity linked to the disgraced financier.

Renewed attention on Epstein ties

Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein several times between 2011 and 2014, mainly in connection with discussions about philanthropy and global health initiatives. He has since described those meetings as a “mistake” and said he regrets any association with Epstein.

In earlier interviews, Gates explained that Epstein failed to deliver on promises related to charitable fundraising and that no financial partnership resulted from their interactions.

Impact on personal life

The revelations about Gates’ affairs surfaced following his 2021 divorce from Melinda French Gates, which ended their 27-year marriage. Both have said publicly that the split was due to personal reasons and not a single specific event, though Gates later admitted he had not always been faithful during the marriage.

Despite the controversy, Gates continues his philanthropic work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and maintains that he has learned from past mistakes.

Public response

The disclosures have sparked renewed debate about accountability, public figures’ private conduct, and the lingering questions surrounding Epstein’s high-profile connections. Gates has reiterated that he has no involvement in Epstein’s crimes and that he condemns them unequivocally.

He also stressed that his focus remains on his family and on global health and development initiatives.
