The Simpsons has captivated audiences for 35 years, but fans were stunned by the season 36 finale revealing Marge’s death. The long-running animated series has gradually bid farewell to several characters, including Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, who was reduced to a non-speaking role following criticism about his stereotypical portrayal by white actor Hank Azaria.

Over the years, the show has seen the departure of characters like Fat Tony and Edna Krabappel, with Ned Flanders experiencing a second loss of a spouse. Known for its uncannily accurate predictionsincluding Donald Trump’s presidency, the Coronavirus pandemic, and the horse meat scandalthe show has once again surprised viewers with this unexpected narrative twist.

In the most recent episode, which jumps 35 years into the future, the narrative explores Bart and Lisa’s adult lives. Lisa has achieved professional success, while Bart operates an unlicensed retirement home. Early in the episode, Lisa references her ‘late mother’ and shows a scene from Marge’s funeral, along with a poignant video Marge recorded in the unlikely event of her premature death.

Although the exact cause of Marge’s death remains unspecified, she appears youthful in her heavenly depiction. The funeral imagery suggests her passing occurs approximately 15 to 20 years from the present timeline, with further details potentially revealed in future seasons.

Ironically, Homer survives despite his dangerous nuclear plant job and unhealthy lifestyle. After being relocated to Florida by senior services, he is ultimately rescued by Bart and Lisa, who reunite him to watch a final Itchy and Scratchy episode together.

In a comedic twist, the episode humorously implies Marge has found a new partner in heavennone other than Thomas the Tank Engine narrator Ringo Starr, the renowned musician.
